English as an Additional Language (EAL) Specialist - Full time
Position Overview

AHIS seeks an experienced and compassionate EAL Specialist to support multilingual learners in accessing learning, building confidence, and developing academic and social English.
At AHIS, language development is viewed as a process of identity formation and participation — not remediation.
The EAL Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers to ensure multilingual learners can meaningfully engage in inquiry-based learning while continuing to develop English proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Language Support & Instruction

  • Provide targeted English language support through small-group and in-class instruction.

  • Support development of academic language alongside social communication skills.

  • Scaffold inquiry learning for multilingual students.

Collaboration & Inclusion

  • Collaborate closely with homeroom teachers to differentiate instruction.

  • Help design inclusive classroom environments that support language learners.

  • Support teachers in strategies for multilingual classrooms.

Student Wellbeing & Transition

  • Support newly arrived students adjusting to an English-medium environment.

  • Build confidence and participation among emerging English speakers.

  • Monitor language development and communicate progress with families.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Qualification or experience in TESOL, EAL, or multilingual education.

  • Experience in international or diverse classrooms.

  • Strong understanding of language acquisition.

  • Collaborative mindset and coaching orientation.

  • Patient, observant, and student-centered.
