Example Activity 01
Nature Quest
Children become adventurers. Through Nature Quest, they follow riddles, lift leaves, find hidden trinkets, and explore the Meguri-no-Mori forest and complete mission-based scavenger hunts. By paying attention to textures, colors, shapes, and patterns in nature, they spark their curiosity and cultivate insights and inspiration that connect to later projects.
Example Activity 02
Design Lab
Children become engineers. By thinking and discussing in groups what a village needs, they choose something to build, sketch, test, and tinker using both simple tools and creative digital ones (including AI). Children learn through trial and error how imagination and collaboration turn ideas into reality.
Example Activity 03
Wild Workshop
Children become carpenters. They work together to build something functional or meaningful — like a small shelter, garden feature, or pathway — reflecting on how it connects to their environment and community. Children experience the value of trial and error, learn to persevere through setbacks, and discover how collaboration strengthens both their thinking and their creations.

Lead Teacher
Anna Novick
Anna is a bilingual, bicultural educator who grew up in Hayama, attending Japanese public schools through Grade 9. Early experiences navigating between cultures made questions of identity and belonging present, and at times challenging.
As an undergraduate at Harvard, immersed in a diverse student body and community, she experienced a rigorous liberal arts education emphasizing deep thinking, intellectual discipline, and connections across disciplines. There, she learned to engage with difference as a source of learning leading to new ideas.
Anna has taught in international schools for over 10 years, and believes the purpose of education is to help young people understand themselves, engage openly with difference, and navigate a complex world with confidence.
Lead Teacher
Andreas Bytoft
Rooted in the egalitarian values of the Swedish education system and deeply immersed in Japanese culture—from Zen monastery training to the MEXT teacher training program—Andreas offers a unique pedagogical synthesis. Drawing on his background in Sweden’s culturally diverse society, he understands that modern education must prepare students for a complex, globalized reality
For over 15 years, he has fostered inclusive environments where individual agency meets collective responsibility. Andreas bridges Western critical thinking with Japanese collaborative values, designing curricula that equip students with the intercultural fluency required to navigate a multicultural landscape with confidence and humility.
