Position Overview

Akiya Hayama International School (AHIS) seeks a caring and responsible After School Care Coordinator to support students after the school day until parent pick-up (approximately until 6:00 PM).
This role provides a safe, calm, and welcoming environment where children can relax after a full school day. The focus is on supervision, wellbeing, and gentle play rather than formal instruction. Students may spend this time playing, reading, drawing, resting, or doing quiet activities while they wait for their families.
The After School Care Coordinator ensures that students are safe, supported, and cared for during this transition time at the end of the day.

Key Responsibilities

Student Supervision & Care

  • Supervise students after school until parent or guardian pick-up

  • Maintain a safe, calm, and nurturing environment

  • Ensure students are accounted for at all times

  • Monitor student wellbeing and respond appropriately to minor incidents or needs

  • Provide a relaxed environment where children can unwind through activities such as free play, Drawing, crafts, or creative activities, reading, or outdoor play when appropriate

Safety & Responsibility

  • Ensure safe supervision of children at all times

  • Follow school safety and safeguarding procedures

  • Monitor pick-up procedures and release students only to authorized adults

  • Communicate any concerns or incidents to school leadership

Collaboration

  • Communicate with teachers regarding student transitions to after-school care

  • Work cooperatively with other staff members responsible for student wellbeing

  • Support smooth dismissal and after-school routines

Required Qualifications
  • 保育士資格 (Licensed childcare worker) or equivalent early childhood qualification

  • Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, or school setting

  • Strong awareness of child safety and supervision responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in after-school or extended day programs

  • Basic first aid certification

  • Experience supporting mixed-age groups of children
