Admissions decisions for each round are not made on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are reviewed holistically based on the submitted materials and interview. We strongly encourage families to attend an information session before applying.

2027 Admissions Overview: General Track
ELC (Early Learning Centre)：K3, K4, K5
Typically age 3–5 as of August 31, 2027
Elementary：G1, G2, G3
Typically age 6–8 as of August 31, 2027
That said, placement is never purely mechanical. Each child's developmental stage, individual character, and prior learning experience are considered holistically — so that every child is placed in the environment where they can truly flourish.
Approx. 110 students across K3–G3
Applications are divided into 3 rounds. You may apply to one round only.

Copy of your passport(s). If no passport is available, please provide an alternative document proving nationality — such as a residence certificate (jūminhyō, without My Number), health insurance card, or residence card.

Please identify two adults outside the immediate family who know your child well — such as a teacher from daycare, kindergarten, school, or an extracurricular activity. Both referees may be from the same organisation.
In our admissions portal, you will find a link to a structured online survey to forward to your two referees. You are welcome to give your referees a heads-up so they know to look out for it.
The survey is available in both English and Japanese. English responses are preferred, but Japanese is also accepted.
Responses are submitted directly to AHIS — you will not be able to see what your referees write.
If we have not received a reference about two weeks before the application deadline, we will follow up with you directly.
Documentation for children requiring additional support
Please include any relevant documentation that will help us understand your child’s learning, developmental, behavioural, or other support needs and how we can best support them at school. This may include assessments, reports, individualised support plans, or recommendations from teachers, specialists, or other professionals.

2027 Admissions Overview: Scholarship Track
Not open to applicants applying through the general admissions track.

ELC (Early Learning Centre)：K3, K4, K5
Elementary：G1, G2, G3
Scholarship support continues for 3 years in the ELC and 5 years in G1–G5.
For example, a student admitted to G1 through the scholarship track will receive partial tuition support for 5 years through G5. A student entering at G2 will be covered for 4 years through G5.
Admission through the ELC scholarship track does not guarantee a scholarship for G1–G5. At the time of advancing to G1, families will need to re-apply for a scholarship.

Same as the general track.
In addition to the same Admissions Policy that applies to the general track, the scholarship track is specifically intended for families for whom financial assistance is necessary to make attending AHIS possible. As such, financial need will be assessed as part of the selection process.

In addition to the required documents for the general track, please also submit the income documentation below.
Please provide documentation for each parent/guardian. If there are multiple sources of income, documentation should be provided for each applicable source.
Documents in Japanese or English may be submitted without translation. For documents in other languages, please attach a Japanese or English translation. A notarized translation is not required; a translation confirmed and signed by the applicant/parent/guardian is acceptable.
Required Income Documentation
AHIS may also request information about a family's overall assets or other sources of income as needed during the application process.
1) Employed and residing in Japan
Please submit one of the following for the most recent year:
- ・Certificate of taxation / income taxation certificate (課税証明書・所得課税証明書); or
- ・Withholding tax slip (源泉徴収票)
2) Self-employed, sole proprietor, or business owner residing in Japan
Please submit:
- ・Tax returns (確定申告書) for the two most recent years
AHIS may request additional tax documentation if necessary.
3) Unemployed, without income, or on parental leave and residing in Japan
Please submit:
- ・Certificate of taxation or certificate of non-taxation
If applicable, AHIS may also request documentation confirming termination of employment or parental leave status.
4) Residing overseas in a country with an income tax system
Please submit:
- ・The most recent tax return; or
- ・A government-issued income certificate
For U.S. residents, examples may include W-2, Form 1099, or equivalent documentation.
5) Residing overseas in a country without an individual income tax system
For example, UAE, Qatar or Saudi Arabia.
Please submit all three of the following:
- ・Employment contract showing salary
- ・Employer-issued annual income certificate
- ・Pay slips for the most recent three months
6) One parent/guardian residing in Japan and the other overseas
Please submit the applicable documentation above separately for each parent/guardian.
7) Divorced or separated parents
Where only the custodial parent/guardian's financial information is being submitted, AHIS may request documentation confirming divorce, separation, custody, or equivalent circumstances.
